NEW YORK –  A long line of diehard “Arrested Development” fans crowded the streets of midtown Manhattan on Monday afternoon for a chance to try one of the famed frozen bananas frequently featured on the show.

The yellow, banana-shaped hut was set up to promote the return of the beloved series, which was cancelled back in 2006. New episodes of the show have now been taped and are set to be released on Netflix on May 26.

A rep for the series said about 2,000 chocolate dipped frozen bananas were being given away Monday to celebrate the show’s upcoming season.

“They started this in London last week, and people were waiting in line for six hours to get bananas,” she said.

The rep added that the stand would “pop up” around New York City through Thursday before heading to Los Angeles to promote the series.

“It’s been crazy. People are really into it.”

“Arrested Development” originally aired on FOX from 2003 to 2006. The show, produced by Ron Howard, follows Michael Bluth (played by Jason Bateman) and his quirky family. The star-studded cast includes Michael Cera, Will Arnett and Portia de Rossi.

Atletico coach hints at Torres return

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has seemingly opened the door for a possible return of Fernando Torres.

Torres has endured a torrid stay at Stamford Bridge since joining from Liverpool in January 2011 for £50million.

In 74 league games he has scored just 14 times, which is a shadow of his Liverpool form where he hit 65 goals in 102 Premier League appearances.

The 29-year-old began his career with Atletico Madrid and is still revered by their fans, and now Simeone has refused to rule out a possible return.

"Fernando Torres is currently playing for another team. We have to wait for the season to finish and decide which of the available players could come here and do a good job," Simeone told Onda Cero. 

"Fernando knows about the club's history, what it means to play here and I don't need to speak about his ability.

"We were team-mates. I know how important he can be."

Simeone admits he does not know if a deal could be struck, adding: "It's complicated. I wouldn't like to say yes or no. He's a player who always performs and we have to respect his choice."

With Chelsea being strongly linked with Atletico's Radamel Falcao - a player-swap plus cash deal has long been mooted. 

Simeone was also quizzed about the future of the Colombian, and said: "I'm not Falcao and I'm not his agent. I'm the manager and have the utmost respect for him, because he gave me so much at River Plate and has done the same here.

"He always gives his all and I really respect players who do that. But everyone makes their own decisions in life. Every person is different, and we have to respect each other. Those who stay are always going to be the best."

Mourinho hints at England 'return'

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has hinted that he could return to an old club by suggesting he could repeat a career move.

Mourinho this week insisted that his exit from Real had not already been agreed, as has been reported in Spain - but it is widely anticipated that he will depart the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

The Portuguese tactician was back in his home city of Setubal on Saturday, where he was opening an exhibition on his own career.

Speaking at a press conference, he was again quizzed about his football future and he claims it would be hard for him to find somewhere different.

"Some things may be about to happen and nobody could imagine," he said.

"Everyone knows I have an adventurous spirit. For them (family) it is not easy. Let's see what happens.

"It is not easy to find a new destination that you would enjoy after being in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain. Maybe a destination will be repeated," he concluded, refusing to give any clues.

Mourinho's career to date has seen him take charge of Benfica, Uniao de Leiria, Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real.

Mourinho, who turned 50 in January, suggested he will carry on well into his 60s by declaring he is only half-way through his coaching career.

"If God keeps me healthy, then I am only halfway through my management career," added the 50-year-old.

He also reiterated his desire to coach Portugal, adding: "I would take charge of the national team, but in the future."

Julia Barr to return to 'All My Children'

Julia Barr will return to "All My Children," The Online Network announced Friday.

Barr will reprise her role as Brooke English, the character for which she earned two Daytime Emmys for Best Supporting Actress and eight nominations. Barr will join Darnell Williams, Debbi Morgan, Vincent Irizarry, Lindsay Hartley, Jordi Vilasuso, Jill Larson and Thorsten Kaye on the rebooted soap.

The Online Network announce plans to revive "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" earlier this year, with production beginning Feb. 25. Both soaps will premiere in the spring, and each new episode will be available to stream online through Hulu, in addition to The Online Network. Viewers will also have the option to purchase episodes through the iTunes Store.
