Cristiano Ronaldo will be staying at Real Madrid this summer, a senior club executive has declared.
Emilio Butragueño, also a former Real Madrid striker, has commented to quash speculation that the superstar Portuguese will return to Old Trafford next season - fuelled after Ronaldo's warm words towards his former club during the recent UEFA Champions League tie.
Butragueño said: "Ronaldo is 28. He is under contract [until 2015] and we are very happy with him. We are delighted he is at Madrid. He is a fantastic professional and very ambitious in a positive way. His contribution to the team and the club has been amazing since he arrived. We are very grateful he came to us. We are very lucky that he plays for Real Madrid.
"He scores a goal a game on average. This is incredible. I have been watching football since I was three and never saw anything similar. When Ronaldo is on the pitch, you know you are going to score. It is an incredible advantage."
Ronaldo took his La Liga season tally to 26 on the weekend with another double, this time against Celta Vigo.
Meanwhile, the man who lured Gareth Bale to Tottenham from Southampton says he is sure that aspiring Paris Saint Germain will make the 23-year-old Welsh wizard a priority target.
The only problem for the French club? The Spurs star doesn't categorise them in the top echelon of clubs that he'd consider moving to.
Former Spurs director of football Damien Comolli said: "When you leave Tottenham and you are a player like Bale, there are only three or four clubs you can go to.
"If PSG know the player is on the market — and there is a possibility — it wouldn’t surprise me if they did everything in their power to get him."
But Bale has been quoted as saying: "At the moment PSG aren’t at the level of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Bayern Munich."
